At last, a banner ad worth clicking on.

Banner+aid helped the online community to give their paid banner advertising a temporary makeover and help spread the word for charities to give to those in need.

Display banners is bread and butter stuff across the years. While it’s less relevant now than ever to most, it has underpinned a lot of digital revenues for a long time.

While working at Poke London (now Publicis Poke) I’d toyed with the idea of an automated system that could process existing published display creative, so an additional interactive layer could be added wit no fuss. This invisible layer, activated from a corner icon, provided information around a cause - initially for the NSPCC - with the opportunity in banner to donate via a click.

Back in Australia, at Abitlikethis we evolved the idea when a tsunami struck the east coast of Japan - guiding people to a page which provided the opportunity to process existing display banners to include a message, and the opportunity for an existing media placement to provide the opportunity for people to support relief efforts.

We called it Banner+Aid.
